There is nothing that pleasures me more than comfort. To indulge myself in the joy and sensation of it is decadent and satisfying. That’s right, I said it! I crave it and Rustik Tavern delivered it. The antique tapestry chairs, local artists’ artwork on the walls and the lovely vintage piano were wonderful compliments. Rustik is intimate with a down home feel. It is a favorite hot spot in the heart of Clinton Hills, Brooklyn. Rustik Tavern will surely pull you in. There is an outdoor patio, which is inviting and indulging. It will make you feel as though you are home enjoying great food and conversation with friends or loved ones. I just simply sat back and embraced the flavor of it all.
My mouth was ready for the Willoughby BBQ wings which were crispy, messy, spicy and delicious. That was the appetizer and with that being such a savory delight, I anticipated beyond measure that the first course would be even more satisfying. I had the Sanford blackened salmon, sautéed spinach and smooth “smashed” potatoes. The salmon was grilled, flaky, moist and seasoned well to my liking. The sautéed spinach was vibrant in color, bold and flavorful with olive oil and garlic. Then there were the luscious “smashed” potatoes which were not too creamy and had just enough texture to get me excited. My sighs of pleasure in an almost “When Harry Met Sally” kind of way let everyone know that I had well satisfied.
So, did I have room for dessert? Absolutely! It was a must! I find it impossible to resist sweets! It’s my weakness. If I had my way, I would skip dinner and go straight to dessert. Yeah, that sounds real good!
The most indulgent dessert I saw on the menu was the fried cheese cake. It was a must to pass through these lips of mine. The first bite was glorious. The outer layer was light with a golden hue. The velvety cheese cake filling was rich, smooth and creamy with an irresistible strawberry coulis drizzled on top. This was a party in my mouth…come play. I was pleased. I was satiated. I was hooked!
